“Amanda is a true professional and an expert in her field. She takes the time to listen and offers good advice and insight. She also recommends good tools and tactics that you can use in everyday life that make a difference. She is down to earth and really listens and cares about her patients. After working with Amanda for the past six months my anxiety and depression have been much more manageable and my daily life has improved significantly. Amanda also specializes in many different issues, not just anxiety and depression. Issues such as addiction, abuse, LBGTQ and gender identity. If you are looking for a therapist who will be there for you and truly cares and wants to help make a difference in your life. Look no further.”
Hello! I am Dr. Amanda Student, DSW, LCSW, CCTP
I am a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Doctorate of Social Work and certification as a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist. I have worked in behavioral health since 2012, supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families through a wide range of challenges, including trauma, eating disorders, mood disorders, life transitions, and family court–related concerns.
Originally from Westchester County, I moved to the Capital Region in 2015. I am also a Core Adjunct Lecturer in Social Work at Siena College and Chair of the Social Work Advisory Board, where I developed and teach a course on Developmental Disabilities. I believe healing is a collaborative process rooted in compassion, trust, and respect, and I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where clients feel empowered to create meaningful change.

What Clients Say
“I started meeting with Amanda last Spring at the peak of my anxiety and desperately looking for someone to help me incorporate new coping skills and problem solve. Very quickly, we were able to look at what I thought I needed compared to what I actually needed from therapy. From there, we dove right into doing the work using techniques and coping skills I already had while exploring new solutions.
I was worried about how clinical the process of therapy would feel, but Amanda has done a great job of making our sessions feel human and personable while helping me tackle trauma and anxiety. Amanda finds ways to be both honest and direct while still honoring my feelings and keeping my therapy goals in mind. My schedule fluctuates a lot throughout the year and Amanda has been very flexible with me while scheduling, which I really appreciate!”
“My son started therapy with Amanda about 6 months ago and I honestly don’t know what I would do without the guidance and support she’s given my family. My son truly has a bond with her, cares about his sessions, and genuinely looks forward to meeting with her as he knows he can be himself and always count on her. Her care for her patients far exceeds my expectations and we will continue to use her as my son navigates his issues. We’re grateful to have her as our child’s therapist.”
